Seed stratification time! 👍🏼 Many native wildflower seeds need a “winter” environment to help break their dormancy. I’ve found the paper towel method to work great for this. Here we have Spider Milkweed - Asclepias viridis which needs at least 30 days in a cold and damp setting. To do this, we sprinkle seed on a clean paper towel, mist the seed with distilled water, place it in a plastic bag, and store in the refrigerator until they are ready to plant. These Milkweed seeds will grow into beautiful wildflowers, thriving in dry and sunny places, that will provide needed food for the larva of the Monarch butterfly! We hope to plant these around Valentine’s Day... our nerdy way to love Monarchs. 🌱 ❤️ 🐛 #milkweedformonarchs #olatheks
